Wow. What a tough year for so many businesses, big and small. Every day we see restaurants and chain stores close, the unemployment rate inching back up, and credit continuing to be tight.
But some of my clients had a GREAT YEAR. And those that did all had a strong focus on a unique capability. No, they didn't walk away from opportunities outside of this focus. But they did invest their marketing dollars where they knew they had a very convincing story.
In a down economy, buyers DEMAND value. And value comes from professional service firms because they have a unique capability, pure and simple. It could be in an industry or some technical skill.
So where will you put your marketing dollars in 2011? In a pitch that says (unbelievably) that you can do it all? Or a pitch that says this is why the prospect MUST HAVE what you got.
